Anything work for a small red spot on the eye, looks like a broken blood vessel?

Nope. It is a broken blood vessel, and will heal in time on it's own. It's harmless, and is caused either by stress or strain in the sclera.

I used to work for an Optometrist (I'm a former Optician, turned full-time-mama) and here's the way he once explained it to me when I was treating a patient whose vessel had broken and spread throughout the entire eye. It looked much worse than it was.

Imagine a broken vessel like drop of kool-aid on a counter. It will heal alone, over time, much like evaporation occurs. But if the eye is strained or stressed in any way, it's like putting a sheet of saran wrap over that drop, and it spreads throughout the sclera(white part).

It could take up to two weeks to heal, or could go away in two or three days.

Take care to notice if it's starting around the conjunctiva (pink part), because that could mean an infection like pink eye. If it's just on the white part, you're probably fine.

Over the counter meds like Visene should be taken conservatively, because they cause the veins in the eye to constrict.Anything work for a small red spot on the eye, looks like a broken blood vessel?
Thanks. I'm having the same problem. Report Abuse

you might have a stye, heat up a tea bag squeeze it out and lay back with it on your eye for a while
Pitekia only heals with time I'm afraid.
an ice pack on the eye.If you get them all the time it could be a sign of diabetes
The blood will be reabsorbed over time...nothing else you can do.

Make up a big fat story about how you got it in case anyone is rude enough to ask!!
Sorry, if it is on the eye - time %26amp; ice pack - maybe.
